Baby is due on Thursday (although she’ll probably be late). The house will also be late; we’re still about 3 weeks out from being done. After last Saturday’s flooding in the family room, we dried out fairly quickly. Monday was pretty slow, mostly just waiting for an inspection. After that though, it has been another week full of (visible) progress. On Tuesday we met Martin, the paint guy, and gave him the colors for the rooms to be painted and while he was here he painted the visible edges of the deck. The big rolls of insulation were also dropped off on Tuesday. Wednesday was a loud day between wrapping for stucco and insulation.

But by the end of the day, we were almost completely insulated. What a difference it makes!! Even without the drywall up yet the increased warmth and decreased noise are evident. We opted to sleep in the bedroom again, even though it’s still got the plastic sheeting and no window coverings. It was warm and quiet and the bed is much more comfortable than the couch.

The stucco wrapping continued on Thursday and finished on Friday. Marty worked on various indoor items including the tub and checking the plumbing. We had two inspections this week, one for insulation and one for stucco wrap. Harley has had a tough week with all the noise. All the thumping rattles the windows and doors of the old house so it feels like little earthquakes, of which Harley is not a big fan. He has been sticking very close to Clarke and I, often sitting directly on our feet with his tail between his legs. We try to get all of us out of the house for a least a little bit every day. Sunday brought another rain storm but we fared much better than the past few storms since the stucco wrap sealed everything in. There was only one spot of leakage in a corner of the family room which, thankfully, required a lot less effort to keep dry.
